Hey Alex MacCaw how far out is this feature?
Alex MacCaw
Jonathan Simcoe: I'm sorry - probably a few months. We are rn heads down on polishing tasks.

+1 for this, the shift-click / split-screen view from Roam is something that I use pretty frequently...love to see this one come to life.

Alex MacCaw - I would like to clarify the meaning of this feature request please.
Like others have stated, I would really love to see “Shift + Click” functionality (as found in Roam, Logseq, etc.), whereby you can open a right sidebar panel that shows the content of another note, tag, etc.
It would also be great if you had "block references" so that you could "Alt + Click + Drag" something from the sidebar panel into the main middle pane. Then, if you edit a block reference, it updates everywhere that it's referenced (again, just like in Roam, Loqseq, etc)
Alex MacCaw
Chris Moore: I'm assuming this is preferable over actually using multiple windows (macos native windows). The use-case is editing multiple notes at a time?

Chris Moore: +1!
Chris Moore
Alex MacCaw: Correct. Cross-referencing things on the same page at the same time. Pulling up 2 notes, or 2 instances of the same note (showing different parts in each pane), etc.
Like Loqseq, Roam, Obsidian, etc.

Max Efremov
Alex MacCaw: And also, what is the feasibility of multiple windows? I'd love and am looking for both Shift Click functionality as well as the latter.
Alex MacCaw
Max Efremov: multiple windows are much harder unfortunately.

A supporting use case:
When typing into the daily note, as I link to other pages, I wish I could load the other page side by side and reference it. For example, I'm starting a meeting with Sara, "Meeting with [[Sara]]" and am ready to type notes in our meeting but I want to open the "[[Sara]]" note to comb through recent backlinks for what we talked about recently.
This would also be helpful while reading back in the daily note history.

Being able to quickly reference several notes is integral to my workflow. This is going to be a very welcome feature.

Agree with Jonathan.
For writing it's extremely helpful to be able to open pages in the sidebar. I've also used this a lot for meetings. In the middle I have the meeting I'm currently making notes for and in the sidebar references. (e.g notes from my last meeting or preparation notes)

This is awesome! Something I miss from Roam is being able to Shift + Click tags/pages and have them open in the Sidebar. Since the Reflect sidebar has useful metadata, it would be cool to have Shift + Click open a link/page/tag/filter in a new window. This would enable the same type of functionality.

Jonathan Simcoe: +1 to missing shift+click; anything that can build on this idea would be welcome!
Richard Henrikson
Jonathan Simcoe: I agree that it might be more useful to have the option to open multiple Reflect windows. This way I could have one or two documents I'm reference open on one monitor, and the main document I'm working on open in a window on another monitor (not possible by just shift clicking it into a right panel, though I can see that being useful for a subset of scenarios as well).
