Map Search

As my map gets bigger, I would like to be able to find nodes via tags or text search, highlighting them so they stand out from the noise

Enhancing the performance of the map tab, enabling the opening of notes in the sidebar within the map tab, and allowing for independent zoom on selected nodes. Some additional improvements as well.

I have a feature request that overlaps with this in some areas but it get's pretty in depth in terms of some of the specific feature points I'd like to see for those interested. I think really what is needed is a larger Maps V2 overhaul with a combination of a lot of these features.

Can I suggest taking a look at zen kit hypernotes graph this is a very clear and useful implementation of map view with the ability to select 2 nodes and highlight paths that link them. Has a zoom mode also Out of all map views I have looked at this for me is the most useful

Right, the mind map currently isn't useful. I would delete it from menu altogether, right now. I'm not sure what it does apart from show you have 1000 notes?
- Useful maps I've seen are 'note' centric maps, where you can navigate the links E.g. like Obsidian or Capacities

YES - I'm having "issues" with the map. I find that it's not currently relevant. I almost wish the map could function in a way that a word cloud does.
Let me explain.
It seems like the map is driven by the links and tags and dates -- but that's not super helpful to me. I almost wish the AI could do an analysis of the words written and uncover underlying themes in the notes.
I do a lot of content creation and I'm using this to flush out thoughts and themes, and I was hoping the map would help me see more about how my brain works in that regard -- so, while I can link or tag subjects that I consciously outline - I'm not getting to "unconscious" patterns and I was hoping the map would be able to do that -- unless I"m missing something, .

Ivana Taylor I like this idea … a map that gives some insights.
The current map is pretty useless (especially so on iPad) and this is coming from someone who is more of a visual thinker/explorer! ( I honestly think it is one of the worst / least useful map implementations I have seen) I want a map to help me identify clusters and navigate across notes in the process of thinking, filtering out groups in the process etc
Your idea is a novel one and a good one … I can see an issue in that it would require ai have access to all notes. Might not want that. Also probably a potentially massive Ai interrogation cost, but I do like the principle.
Maybe a staged approach where ai can optionally be used to create a small set of key ‘theme’ words for each new note and these are then tagged somehow so that only the keywords are then analysed for “word/theme-cloud” and a map of these is created with links out to the associated source notes… needs some refinement in thinking but is a very interesting concept. :)
Problem is that I get the impression that this sort of capability is not really a focus for reflect. The focus seems to be more on the easy capture and finding and organising of notes, not the exploration, picking apart and thinking about what has been captured.
This is why I use other apps like Scrintal, Capacities and TheBrain for more functional “thinking” capabilities (problem is that it’s just too expensive to have them all )

Grik - Right now, I'm basically using ChatGPT and NotebookLM with this kind of stuff. It gets the job done without changing my regular workflow
