I work with Europeans and North Americans - sending either of them materials with dates in DD/MM/YYYY format or MM/DD/YYYY format leads to confusion. YYYY-MM-DD dates are unambiguous for both groups.

Yes, right now the dates are in the ambiguous format 6/5/21 (is that 6th of May or 5th of June?). 
Most apps make this a personal preference, so US citizens can keep 12h clocks and peculiar dates ;)
